According to the developers, the 4 first dungeons are inspired by the game The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past. Special keys can also be collected which reveal access to hidden dungeons or objects which are worlds within themselves.
I know several people work on recreations and follow work-as-you-go principles or eyeballing things. As well as fix any areas which were obscured by builds. It still requires major work to add builds and all the other things. Zelda Adventure for Minecraft also features specially adapted sound effects, background music and weaponry to help you fight off Creepers. I translated the Zelda Breath of the Wild map to an ingame terrain as best I could. You have to move through the game collecting items, build up your character's inventory, fight enemies and solve puzzles, rather than just building your own world like in regular Minecraft. Zelda Adventure for Minecraft features a more structured gameplay than regular Minecraft.
